Terms of Service
Last Updated: March 31, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to StationHash (“Service,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using StationHash, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
StationHash is currently in beta. Features may change, and the Service is provided without guarantees of availability or reliability during this period.
2. What StationHash Is — and Is Not
StationHash is a document verification and integrity recording service. We allow two parties to upload, negotiate, and sign a document, then record a cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of the final agreed version on the Polygon blockchain.
StationHash is NOT:
- A notary service or notarization platform
- A legal advisory or law firm
- A certified electronic signature provider under any jurisdiction's e-signature laws
- A substitute for legal counsel
StationHash records proof that a specific document existed at a specific time and that identified parties agreed to it. Whether that proof has legal effect in any jurisdiction depends on the applicable laws and circumstances. We make no representations about the legal enforceability of documents signed through StationHash.
You should not rely on StationHash as the sole evidence of any agreement. We strongly recommend consulting a licensed attorney for matters requiring legal certainty.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use StationHash. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.
4. Account Registration and Guest Access
4.1 Registered Accounts
You may create an account using a valid email address and password, or by signing in with Google OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activities under your account.
4.2 Guest Access
StationHash allows a second party (“Guest”) to access a specific document session via an invite link without creating an account. Guests can view documents and leave comments without verification. Certain actions — uploading revisions, accepting documents, and signing — require email verification via a one-time code.
By accessing StationHash through an invite link, or by taking any action within a document session (including viewing, commenting, uploading, accepting, or signing), you agree to these Terms.
4.3 Email Verification
Email verification confirms only that you have access to the email address provided. It does not verify your real-world identity, legal authority, or capacity to enter into agreements. StationHash is not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from compromised email accounts.
5. How the Service Works
5.1 Document Sessions
A registered user creates a document session, uploads a document, and invites a second party. Both parties may upload revised versions, leave comments, and accept a final version.
5.2 Blockchain Signing
Once both parties accept the same version, each party may “sign” the document. Signing records a SHA-256 hash of the document on the Polygon blockchain. The actual document is never stored on the blockchain — only a cryptographic fingerprint.
5.3 Verification
Anyone may verify a document by uploading it to our public verification page. StationHash computes the file's hash and checks it against blockchain records. Because all on-chain identifiers are cryptographically hashed with a server-side secret, verification can only be performed through the StationHash verification page — not independently via blockchain explorers.
6. Blockchain Records Are Permanent and Irreversible
Once a signature is recorded on the blockchain, it cannot be modified, reversed, or deleted — by StationHash or anyone else. This is a fundamental property of blockchain technology, not a limitation of our Service.
Before signing, you must:
- Carefully review the document you are signing
- Confirm that you intend to create a permanent record of your agreement
- Understand that this action cannot be undone
StationHash is not responsible for signatures made in error, under duress, or without proper review.
7. Data Storage and Automatic Deletion
7.1 What We Store
- Your email address (for account and communication purposes)
- Uploaded document files (encrypted with AES-256-GCM at rest in our storage)
- Session metadata (titles, timestamps, status)
- Blockchain transaction records (hashes only — no personal information on-chain)
7.2 Automatic Data Deletion
Documents and personal data are automatically deleted from our servers 30 days after a session is completed (both parties have signed). Specifically:
- Uploaded document files are permanently deleted
- Email addresses and session titles are removed from our database
- Comments, revision history, and signature records are deleted
Only the following survive deletion:
- The file hash (needed for future verification)
- Blockchain transaction hashes (links to on-chain records)
- The completion timestamp
7.3 Your Responsibility
Because data is automatically deleted, you are responsible for downloading your documents and any verification certificates before the 30-day window expires. We will send a reminder email 7 days before deletion, but we are not liable if you fail to download your files in time.
7.4 Blockchain Records Survive Deletion
Even after server-side data is deleted, the blockchain records remain permanently. This means the cryptographic proof of your document's existence and signatures persists independently of StationHash.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use StationHash to:
- Upload or sign fraudulent, forged, or misleading documents
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Upload documents containing malware, viruses, or harmful code
- Circumvent rate limits, access controls, or security measures
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or overload the Service
- Engage in any activity that violates applicable laws
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 Your Content
You retain all rights to the documents you upload. By uploading a document, you grant StationHash a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and hash the document solely for the purpose of providing the Service. This license terminates when your data is deleted.
9.2 Our Service
StationHash, including its design, code, and branding, is our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the Service without our written permission.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties

- Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Accuracy, reliability, or completeness of the Service
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Security of data transmitted or stored through the Service
- Legal validity or enforceability of documents signed through the Service

- Supabase — for authentication and database services
- Vercel — for application hosting
We are not responsible for outages, changes, or failures of these third-party services. Blockchain transaction fees (gas fees) are handled by StationHash and are not charged to users.
14. Modifications to the Service and Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. If we make material changes to these Terms, we will notify you via email or a prominent notice on the Service. Your continued use after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6, 10, 11, 12, and 16) will survive.
16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted in the English language. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and StationHash regarding the Service.
